3. Hr. HcGiffert, Special Assistant to the Secretary of
Defense for Legislative Affairs, contacted me to ascertain if you
v~vere planning to be present. He was advised that you did plan to
appear for the Agency. Apparently DOD has not yet determined
who their witness would be due to the unavailability of Hr. McNamara
and Hr. Gilpatric. Mr. McGiffert mentioned possibly they would
have to call on Gilliam Bundy who is the Deputy to Assistant Secretary
Paul Nitze who is also unavailable. Consideration is also being given
to the possibility of General Carroll.
4. Hr. Knoche advised this morning that you plan for Knoche
and myself to accompany you. Presumably there are no further
preparations to b? made.
