non-productive of useful information. FDD, therefore, was discontinu-
ing its collection of such infoaration.
4. With regard to the retrievability of data under the proposed
s3rstsu of cataloging the NA a: er asked whether FAD would respond
to specific as wen as the broader types of requirements.
The Mairman replied that FM would accept any requirement
for specific information from foreign laeguage publications, although
he presumed that specific requests for information of an industrial
plant or bi hic nature would be served first on the appropriate
registers of such iantormation.

organisation of the reports specifically for intelligence purposes.

Item 1. International Geophysical Co9perattiionn ProMg (1GC report)
Currently a weekly attributed to the Office of Technical Services,
Department of Commerce, this report has largely fulfilled its purposes
in connection with the International Geophysical Year. It is planned
to discontinue the report at the end of 1960 and to produce in its
stead Information on SovBloc Geo ales. Astronomy, and Space Research
a biweekly report concerning developments in gceanogra , terrestr
physics, upper atmosphere, and space (including space.medicine and
man-in-space) research. The report will be produced by JPRS and sold
on subscription by OTS Department of Commerce.

Provisions have been made for the systematic collection and
reporting to Biographic Register, OCR, of biographic information on
Sino-Soviet Bloc scientists.
