Allen W. Dulles, Central Intelligence Agency., 4.shington 25, D. C. The Military and Industrial Conference, which is a project of the Institute for American Strategy, is an annual affair, held each year in Chicago, and attended by a great many important people, both from civil and military life. I under- stand that they have invited you to address them at a luncheon on Monday, April 10th, and my information is based on the fact th,t they have asked me to act as chairman of the luncheon, and to'introduce you, in case you can accept. You may be amused that they asked me to introduce Zorlu of Turkey, then Minister of Foreign Affairs, at a.previous meeting, two years ago, as I recall it. I did it with reluctance, having known him all too well in 1950, when he was the official liason man between the Turkish government and the so-called "Barker" mission to Tur- key. In contrast, I shall accept the present invitation with alacrity and enthusiasm in case you are able to be the guest of the Conference, as I hope that you will. If you come to Chicago, N;argaret and I shall be delighted if you will make 1430 Lake Shore Drive your habitation and headquarters, should that suit your convenience. If Clover would come too, it would be even more delightful. Should you prefer to relax, we can dine "en famille", or if you would like to do so, we can have a dinner party for you. We leave here for a fortnight in Chicago, beginning February third. With best regards, J. N. Barker Approved For Release 2002/08/21 : CIA-RDP80BO1676R003500030034-6
