As we reflect over the year's activities, we recall many
pleasant experiences and wonderful people we meet at various functions
throughout the country. I can assure you, however, that none was more
pleasant than when I appeared as Toastmaster at your I.A.C.P. Banquet
at the Statler Hotel in Washington, D. C., Wednesday evening, October 5.
I have been meaning to write this letter for some time, but as you may
know, I am out of town more than I am in.
It was a long-to-be-remembered experience as it afforded me
an opportunity to make new acquaintances and to renew old friendships
that extended back to the time when, as a member of the Illinois General
Assembly, I was the sponsor of the minimum wage bill for police and
firemen. Some of the old buddies that I worked with in having this
legislation enacted were in attendance at your convention and meeting
them brought back many fond memories.
May I congratulate you and the other members of I.A.C.P. on
your selection of Chief Robert Murray of Washington as President of
your Organization. Chief Murray is a dedicated public servant and his
career should be an inspiration to every American.
Trusting you will give me a call on your next visit to
Washington and extending to you and yours my every good wish, I am,
Sincerely,
Cal D.' inson
