NEW HAVEN ? CONNECTICUT
DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY HALL OF GRADUATE STUDIES
4 April 1960
Mr. Allen Dulles
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. Dulles:
The Program Committee of the A.H.A. is setting up a session
on the European Resistance Movements in World War II for presenta-
tion at the 1960 Convention. The organization of this session is
now almost completed and we anticipate that it will be one of the
star attractions of the meeting. Hajo Holborn of Yale has agreed to
give a paper on the German Opposition, Max Salvatori of Smith College
has consented to speak on the Italian Resistance, and Franklin Ford
of Harvard is signed up as commentator. The only uncertainty is
Gordon Wright of Stanford whom we have asked for the French Resistance,
and who is considering. Would you serve as chairman of this session?
The Committee is unanimous in their desire to have you serve.
The Convention will meet in New York for three days between
Christmas and New Year's Day. We shall endeavor, if you consent,
to choose a time for the session that will fit into your schedule.
I shall look forward to your reply at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely yours,
Leonard Krieger
Chairman,
Program Committee
