It was a joy to get even the glimpse of you the other
afternoon at the Century Club. I had dropped in there for a
quick drink with Walter Rothchild between two meetings and,
unfortunately, the latter one was directly in conflict with the
occasion where you and Governor Dewey spoke.
I have not heard from Dick Rubottom, and it may be
that the thing which he mentioned to me has bogged down
somewhere and should remain so. I do not wish by this letter to
ask that you do anything - except possibly you might give me an
indication as to whether I should communicate with STATINTL
Actually I don't have a very strong inclination about the thing one
way or another, and I don't want it to be the source of any bother
at all to you.
