The United Chapters of Phi Beta Kappa

In co-operation with the Society of the Sigma Xi, the United
Chapters of Phi Beta Kappa will sponsor an address by James
R. Killian, Jr. , at the Washington, D. C , meeting of the Amer-
ican Association for the Advancement of Science. His address,
"Science and Public Policy, " will be given on Monday evening,
December 29 , at 8 P . M. at the Sheraton-Park Hotel .
President on leave from the Massachusetts Institute of Tech-
nology, Dr. Killian has served as Special Assistant to the
President for Science and Technology since November of 1957.
His address will be the first in the new Phi Beta Kappa-Sigma
Xi series, a series which will emphasize the interdependence
of the sciences and the humanities in the mid-twentieth century.
We believe that you will want to hear Dr. Killian's address,
which will be open to members of the sponsoring Societies and
their guests as well as to those attending the specialized scien-
tific sessions of the A. A. A. S. The enclosed invitation will admit
you and your guests .
