Thanks very much for sharing your report to the Senate on your
successful and effective stewardship of the Select Committee. To
begin with, I am most grateful for the kind words you've said not
only about my role but the overall performance of the intelligence,
community. People do need this kind of encouragement today in the
wake of the substantial criticism that has prevailed.. Your pointing
out that in almost every instance where there have been abuses it
was not solely the responsibility of the intelligence people is most
helpful.
I look forward to discussing with you some of the items in your
report which we must work together to bring to fruition. Perhaps we
could do that in connection with my providing you the "report card"
which you have recuested of mn. ?'m ready for that any time that
suits you.
