Dear Stan:
I am writing to see if you have any use for a bright and energetic
young Dartmouth student during the summer months of 1978.
Each year, the Public Affairs Center of Dartmouth College selects
ten students to be Public Affairs Interns. This program is designed
to encourage students to expand and integrate their classroom education
with experience in the work of public agenices or private organizations
dealing with public concerns. Interns are selected on the basis of
genuine interest in public policy and an ability to function independ-
ently as demonstrated in a written application and an interview. In- STAT

If you have any use for next summer, I should be grateful to
you. Just let the know what he should do to make arrangements and I
shall pass the information on to him and he will initiate whatever
procedures you suggest. If you don't have any use for him,. I'll under-
stand--I keep reading about you in THE NEW YORK TIMES and figure that
you're pretty busy.
