SUBJECT: Retirement Letter for Commander of Air
Force Office of Special Investigations
1. Action Required: Attached for your signature is
a letter of appreciation for Colonel Roy C. Tucker, Jr.
2. Background: Coloney Roy C. Tucker, Jr., the
current Commander of Air Force Office of Special Investi-
gations, will retire as of close of business 31 March 1977.
During his career with OSI, Colonel Tucker has had a very
close and cooperative association with CIA. In view of his
imminent retirement, it is believed that a letter of
appreciation is appropriate.

It has been brought to my attention that you will be
retiring at the end of this month after more than two
decades with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
During this period this Agency has enjoyed a close and pro-
ductive association with you and your service. The assistance
which you and your organization have provided to the achievement
of our common goals has been exceptional.
Agency officers who have dealt with you and the members
of your organization, both in-the field and at. headquarters,
have always relied on your complete willingnes to cooperate
in furthering the national interests.
May I take the occasion of your retirement to express
my esteem and that of my colleagues for the contribution
which you as Commander of AFOSI have made to the nation.
It has been consistent with the integrity, discipline and
spirit characteristic of the AFOSI tradition, and reflects
favorably upon yourself, your organization and the United
States Air Force.
