Dear Admiral Turner:
This subcommittee has jurisdiction over the Freedom of Information
Act and policies involving access to government documents, and will hold
several days of hearings during September on the new Executive order on
security classification. We have scheduled the first day of such hearings
on September 20, providing the new order has been issued by that date, and
in accordance with the responsibility placed on him by PRM 29, we have
asked Mr. Brzezinski. of the National Security Council to make the initial
presentation on behalf of the Executive branch.
We would like to invite you to testify before the subcommittee on ..--

department foresees under the new order and your experience under the old
order.
We request that 50 copies of your prepared statement be delivered
to the subcommittee office at B-349C Rayburn Building twenty-four hours in
