The Director Approved For ReleaTe 2004/0~ii 'i: `6qi AbYA00165A00'I'l1U0050021-8 7 September 1977 Honorable Clifford Allen 552 U. S. Courthouse Nashville, Tennessee 37203 Thank you for your letter of 16 August concerning interest in employment with this Agency. We were pleased to receive your inquiry on his behalf and commend him on his determination to obtain a college degree. Today, with few exceptions, we are able to satisfy professional personnel requirements from the steady flow of highly qualified college graduates who come to us at all degree levels. However, the Agency does have one rather specialized program which provides financial aid to employees pursuing an undergraduate degree -- our Student Trainee Program. This program is similar to a cooperative education program in that the Student Trainee alternates periods at school with work periods in the Agency. The Trainee is paid a salary during the actual work period based on the credits he has earned toward a degree. I am enclosing a fact sheet on the Student Trainee Program for your perusal. In response to your request for information on general employment opportunities with the Agency, I am enclosing a brochure on professional careers and a fact sheet on our Summer. Intern Program.
