Dear Mr. Bush:
Enclosed for your review and comment is a draft of Volume I
of the 1977 National Energy Outlook (NEO/77) r i draft of
Volume II will be sent to you on or about February 1, 1977.
The first volume contains the major results and findings,
while the second volume contains backup appendices and
describes in more detail the methods and assumptions used in,
developing the forecasts and analyses.
Because we would like a comprehensive review of NEO/77
before final publication, we are sending copies to Federal
agencies, Congressional committees, consumer groups, and
private industry. We are asking that any comments you may
have on either volume be returned to FEA by no later than
Tuesday, February 15, 1977. This schedule allows you about
a month to review Volume I, and provides you with a two--week,
period in which you will have both Volumes I and, 11 to
comment upon. Please enter as many of your comments as
possible directly on the draft to assist us in responding.
John D. Christie, Assistant Administrator for Energy Informa-
tion and Analysis (A. C. 202 566-9085), should be contacted
if you wish to discuss parts of NEO/77 directly with the FF31.
staff. Your marked-up drafts of both Volumes I and II
should be returned to the Federal Energy Administration, New
Post Office Building, Room 4420, 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue,
N.W., Washington, D. C. 20461, on or before February 15, 1977.
Our plans are to publish the final report on April 15, 1977.
