Recently, the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM)
announced the discontinuance of contractual support for selected
ADP items. We are concerned about the impact of these decisions
upon the Government's ability to continue essential ADP operations.
To determine this overall impact, we need your assessment as to
what effect the following announcements will have on ADP operations
within your agency:
1. Discontinuance of contract support for parts and main-
tenance, on a phased basis, for the following systems:

2. Discontinuance of CLASS A support (on-call support with-
out cost) and substitution of CLASS C support (chargeable by the

3. Non-acceptance of orders for model changes, features,
or RPQ's for System/360 models 50, 65, 67, and 75, effective
December 31, 1977. This affects the following machines:
