INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS INSTITUTE 1
Admiral Stansfield Turner
Director, Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C. 20505
Dear Admiral Turner,
The members of the International Affairs Institute of NSA would be
deeply honored if you would consider addressing the Institute on a date
convenient to you in the month of January, 1978. We would sincerely
appreciate hearing your respected views on the future of the Intelligence
Community. Of particular interest would be your assessment of the impact
on the intelligence community of recent revelations and congressional
reviews and the new directions you foresee for the community. Your
presentation may be unclassified or classified through TOP SECRET as you
prefer.
The IAI is a professional organization of over 375 members who
meet periodically in the NSA auditorium to hear a recognized authority
speak on a topic pertaining to international relations, science,
economics or military affairs. Some of the more prominent speakers to
address the Institute include Dr. Edward Teller, General Vernon Walters,
Ambassador Averell Harriman, Dr. William Whitson and, most recently,
Ambassador J. Rives Childs.
The Institute usually meets from 0930 to 1100 hours, but, this can
be changed to any time during the working day to meet your schedule.
Normally, we allot 30 to 45 minutes for the formal ad.dlress which leaves
time (about 30 minutes) for an informal question and answer session with
the audience. Following your presentation, we would hope that you would
allow the Institute to host a luncheon in your honor from 1115 to 1245.
Co-Chairman of our Speakers Committee, is available
to assist your staff in working out the arrangements for your visit if you
accept. He can be reached-at'NSA on II I sincerely hope that you
can find the time in your busy schedule to address the Institute and to
convey to us your unique views and comments on the intelligence community.
Sincerely,
25X1
