Dear Mr. Kri l ich:
Thanks so much for your letter of June 22nd, and
for the kind words on the Foreign Affairs article. I
hope that it will lend perspective to some knotty
problems.
I appreciate your invitation to address the Alaska
World Affairs Council. Present plans do not include any
travel to your area in the near future. However, I will
keep the request in mind and will be sure to contact
you should such a trip materialize.
Thanks again and all the best.
Yours sincerely,

Admiral Stansfield Turner
Director of Central Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Langley, Va
Dear Admiral Turner:
I enjoyed your article, "The Naval Balance: Not Just a Numbers Game,"
in Foreign Affairs. Though I certainly can claim no academic expertise
in planning and writing compositions, I do recognize your articles'
clarity of organization and effective writing style.
I want to extend my congratulations on your recent appointment to the
Directorship of the Central Intelligence Agency. It indeed is a timely
opportunity for the Agency to have a leader of outstanding ability
and fine character.
Should your travels bring you to Alaska, the local chapter of the Alaska
World Affairs Council, of which I am a member, would sincerely enjoy
hosting your visit as a public speaker.
Again, I repeat my best wishes for future success.
Very truly yours,
