Washington, D. C., October 15 ? The Director of Central Intelligence and
Mrs. John A. McCone arrived by air from Los Angeles at U o'clock last night
(October lh) and received notice that Paul Juneau Pigott, A. of Bellingbam,
Washington, had died of injuries suffered yesterday when his car crashed at
Riverside, California, in the Riverside Grand Prix sports car race. He was
the eldest son of Mrs. McCone.
Mr. Pigott, known as Pat, drove racing cars as a pastime. His cars on the
last lap of the 200-mile race, spun out of control and hit a wall. He was taken
to the March Air Force Base Hospital, where he died.
Director and Mrs. McCone are returning by air to Los Angeles from Friendship
Airport at 3 p.m. EDT today and will take the body by plane. to Seattle, Washington,
where Mrs. Pigott maintains a home, Arrangements for the funeral services have
not been completed.
Paul Pigott was the son of the late industrialist, Paul Pigott, of Seattle,
and his wife, Theiline McGee Pigott. Mr. Pigott, Sr., died 23 Janis
aryi1961.
Mr. McCone suffered the loss of his wife, the former Rosemary Cooper, who passed

away suddenly from a heart attack in Washington, D. Co.. on 6 December 1961, only
one week after Mn McCone formally assumed his office as the Director of Central
Intelligence. Mr. McCone and Mrs. Paul Pigott were married in Seattle on
29 August 1962. Mrs. Pigott and her late husband were life-long friends of the

The late Paul Pigott gave the bride away when his mother and Mr. McCone
were married in St. Anne's Chapel, Sacred Heart Villa, Seattle, Washington-

Paul Pigott's widow, Virginia, has been joined in Los Angeles by Charles
Pigott, a brother of Paul, to handle funeral arrangements. Charles was hunting
yesterday in Canada when notified of his brother's death, and flew to Los Angeles,
Paul Pigott and his wife had three children. He/is also survived by three
sisters and two brothers',, His sisters are Mrs. Evans Wyckoff, Mrs. Howard
Sprague Wright, and Mrs. Laurence Patrick Hughes. The brothers are Charles
McGee Pigott and James Calvin Pigott.
