Mr. C,alby:
Prior to your departure for Europe, you received an invitation
from the Rand Corporation to attend its 1L April Annual Meeting of
Trustees (Tab A). You indicated that you probably should regret but
asked for calment from DDS&T, DDI, D/DCI/EC and D/DCI/NIO.
I asked Judy to phone Rand, explaining that you were out of town
and would reply on your return (Tab B).
Camients I collected are summarized as follows:
DDI (Walsh) - you would not gain much, agree you should regret
DDS&T (Steininger) - you might profit from attending
D/DCI/IC
no need to attend and probably shouldn't
D/DCI/NIO (Carver) - mixed feelings, proceed cautiously
I personally feel there is no requirement for you to accept and
that you should steer clear of setting a precedent with a major govern-
ment contractor such as Rand. Therefore, I have drafted the attached
regret (Tab C).
