Approved Fo lease 2~i'~ P80M0l0 001100020004-6 19 September 1977 SUBJECT: Telephone Request from Dr. Tuchman, NSC Staff Dr. Tuchman called me this afternoon to pass on the following requests from Dr. Brzezinski:. 1. Dr. Brzezinski would appreciate having from us as soon as possible a report on the human rights situation in Cambodia with particular emphasis on the truth or falsity of the allegations regardin wide read massacres. I warned Ms. Tuchman that we did. 25X1 noti but promised to pull together whatever was available and get it to her promptly. 2. Brzezinski has been reading our unclassified monthly report on Worldwide Developments Related to the U.S. Stand on Human Rights. H e wants to' use this unclassified report with his various contacts and therefore requests that it be confined to a factual objective summary of reactions and events. He feels that there is too much explanatory comment in the monthly reports that we have done to date. He feels that the weekly "Watching Brief" does a good job including evaluatory comment and wants to continue this classified weekly report as is. I have discussed both of these requests with C/ORPA/IID, and he will provide me with the report on the human rights situation in Cambodia as quickly as possible and also make the necessary adjust- ments in the monthly unclassified human rights report.
