1. On 31-August you indicated that the Acting DDCI wanted to be
brought up to date on actions that remained to be taken on recommendations
from several of our surveys. You noted that this information was wanted
by 30 September, if possible.
2. Because of their knowledge of the subject, it is our practice
to involve the captains of the survey teams in the follow-up to recom-
mendations. Since early September all associated with the surveys at
issue have been overseas on new surveys and will not be back until mid
to late October. Accordingly, we would like to defer our response to
your request until 31 October. Doing so will permit us to provide a
more complete and more meaningful response at considerably lower cost.
