SUBJECT Forgery Documents
31 August 1976
1. Attached is a Xerox of two forgeries and a covering
letter sent to various Senators, as indicated. This was sent
to me by the Legislative Counsel at my request, after he had
mentioned the existence of these documents at the DCI's morning
meeting. Apparently there was no "original;" that is, only
photocopies or Xeroxes were distributed. On the blue "MEMORANDUM
FOR" sheet Mr. Cary has also forwarded

2. I understand Mr. Gambino has been charged with telling the
Secret Service about his event, but I have no knowledge that anyone
is taking an operational look at it. While it may well be the result
of a crank's inventiveness, the M.O.--distribution of copies of
alleged genuine documents--resembles the techniques used by the
Soviets
3. May I suggest that if you are interested in pursuing this
matter, you apply to Mr. Cary for any further background information
you need.
