June 7th.
I regret that I am unable to assist
and his family. Congress has establishe e gui e ines
as to those who can qualify for entry into the United
States and my organization has no role to play in this
scheme, except in such instances where an applicant for
entry might have worked for us.
I understand that the plight of the Vietnamese
refugees is well understood by the American Embassy in
Bangkok. I believe that the Embassy will give every
possible assistance.
Please accept my sincere hope that your efforts
will lead to success in your search for ways to assist
the refugees.

Dear Mr Colby,
You must have been very sad of the debacle of Vietnam,after so
many years of hard work in Vietnam.Of course I feel very sad and many of our
friends are now behind the Bamboo Curtain.
I read a great deal abbut yourself in the Press and heard a great
deal about you in Congress but knowing you were so busy I did not want to 1
25X1 you,but one da when you are less busy (if you have such a day,I would likk
visit with you
who escaped to Thailand with his family of 11 persons and would like to see
asy um in the States. Of course he is a refugee from Vietnam. escaping to Thaila
with his family and he requested me to get your help ter.
If you have some suggestions concerning the case of and how hia5Ms
should be handle please let me know.
I was in Washington D.C. the past week and on Tuesday June 3 I had
meetings for the Vietnamese Refugees with many friends you know well.
We are trying to build up a"Vietnamese Refugees Coordinating Committee" This
Committee composed of Vietnamese could give good advice to the U.S.Governement
concerning the Vietnamese Refugees-We should also have a Steering Committee wit
Americans to coordinate the wark of many private agencies and groups willing
to help the refugees of Vietnam.
At the meeting we had last Tuesday were Ambassador Durbrow,Dr Lawre
and Mrs Pratt General Nguyen Cao Ky,Nr Nguyen Ngoc Linh,David Martin,Drew Sawi
and his wife and Philip and Pauline Nguyen Van Tho,and Mr Douglas Coe and myse
Many of these persons are all well know to you and may be they told
you about this important meeting we had from 6.30 P.M. to 11 P.M.
I hope these Committees will be able to do some good work in thj5 1
