Mr. Andrew W. Marshall
Director, Net Assessment
Office of the Secretary of Defense
Washington, L. C. 20301
Dear Andy:
I am writing in reference to the questions you passed
;arding national/tactical support problems when you met
-;the National/Tactical Intelligence Interface Study we
,.
currently have underway with the Joint Staff of the JCS and
will certainly be considered as part of that effort. The
results of the present phase of that study will not be
available until about mid-1975, however.
Therefore, in order to provide you and the Secretary
with specific answers to your queries at an earlier date, I
am asking General Graham, in concert with the Navy and
perhaps the National Security Agency, to furnish you with an
interim response. I em aware that some of the points covered
in your questions have been addressed in studies conducted
by the Navy and the DIA during recent months, and I have
asked that the resultant findings be conveyed to you in
relation to the Secretary's concerns.
I appreciate your continuing interest in these matters,
and I share your concern that we must strive for greater
integration of intelligence systems and procedures for
multiple support purposes.
Sincerely
/s/ Samuel V. fWilsort
