Approved For Release 2004/05/60 T A000700040022-4 VIL- DCI/IC-75-0571 2 April 1975 SUBJECT : Intelligence Community Medals REFERENCE : Memo dtd 1 Apr 75 to USIB Principals fr W. E. Colby, Subject: Proposed DCID 1/18 on Awards for Intelligence Community Service 1. In the interest of moving this project along, I do not think we should wait until final USIB action has been completed. 2. 1 request you contact the U. S. Army Institute of R'eraldry at Cameron Station, Alexandria, and find out from them how we officially obtain their participation in the preparation of proposed designs and the costs which are involved, the time which will be required, etc. 3. Also, through find out who the CIA uses as its manufacturing jeweler for medals, the numbers of medals which CIA orders, approximate costs, etc. 4. It is my understanding that the Institute of Heraldry preparation of designs and the preparation of dyes for the two medals will run around $1,200. As soon as some estimate of cost can be obtained, hould be asked to have the funds committed in the DVI budget. 5. As soon as you have enough Information, we should get a progress report to leneral Wilson. 25X1 25X1 Attachment: Reference r Coordination Staff, ICS 25X1' Al t^ p 0 33A000 00040022-4 Approved For Release 2004/0 / 5 IA-6P~ Approved For Release 2004/ U r p OM01133A000700040022-4 AITIAL Distribution 0 - Adsee., Watt 1 - CS Subject 1 w+ ChmnTChrono 1 -- IC Registry nCI/icS/GS (2 } 2 Approved For Release 2004 Q 0 3 ? .1R 1133A000700040022-4 ULPIr
