SUBJECT : Review of Vol. II, Section VIII of DIS Textbook,
"The U. S. Intelligence Community"
1. Per your request Section VIII of the subject textbook was
reviewed by the USIB Secretariat. The USIB Secretariat informed
that the material contained in Section VIII had been supplied by them
to I and that they had no objection to the classification
currently carried.
. 2. There are minor errors in the text which the USIB
Secretariat comments on in the margins of the text. A more
complete notation is attached.

Page 8B, Para 2, Line 1, insert after "CIA and before the word "on"
the following: "and is the Vice Chairman. "
Page 8B, Para 3, Lines 1 and 2, change to read "The Assistant Secretary
of Defense (Intelligence) may sit with the USIB although not a
member. "
Page 8B, Para 4, Lines 1 and 2, change to read "The Chiefs of the
military intelligence services sit with the Board and, while
not members, participate as observers;... "
Page 8C 1, The Interagency Clandestine Collection Priorities Committee
was abolished in 1975 and its functions were absorbed by the
Human Resources Committee whose Chairman pro tempore is
the Deputy to the DCI for the Intelligence Community.
Change the comment on the Security Committee to read:
"The Security Committee (which in 1974 absorbed the Technical
Surveillance Countermeasures Committee, a body which was
concerned with defense against hostile technical penetration
efforts)... '!
Add the SIGINT Committee:
Page 8C 2:
Line 5, change (NIAMs) to (NIEs).
Line 8, In view of the change in the Watch Committee, this
statement is no longer correct.
Page 8D 2:
DCID 1/11, Security Committee, was reissued on 23 August 1974...
DCID 1/12 was rescinded when the Security Committee absorbed
the functions of the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures
-Committee.
