Morning Meeting of 14 March 1967
Lehman for Godfrey reported that the preliminary assessment
I suggests the
presence of two OSA patrol craft off Hainan island. In reply to a
question Lehman said that he will check on how far south they have
been noted previously.
Lehman reported that OCI hopes to be able to use White House
communications channels to support the President and his party at
Guam.
Lehman noted that another infiltration trawler was forced to
beach eighty miles southeast of Danang.
Carver reported that the pacification grid system appears to be
working reasonably well and that a base line has now been established.

DDCI reported on yesterday's 303 Meeting, as a result of which
the State Department will send a message to appropriate embassies
in connection with the upcoming Latin American summit conference..
