Morning Meeting of 20 February 1967
DD/I called the Director's attention to a Washington Post article
by John Chamberlain concerning the reported sighting of a strategic
missile in Cuba.
Godfrey briefed the Director on the latest developments in China,
calling attention in particular to indications that people sent to the
provinces two to three years ago are taking advantage of the present
confusion to return to their homes. He felt this could cause some dis-
location in production.
Kent said that Estimates on East Africa and Castro's Cuba are
on the USIB agenda this week. He felt that the East African Estimate
is a delicately balanced paper which some USIB members might prefer
to discuss. The Director hoped that the USIB meeting can be held as
scheduled.
Carver briefed the group on his recent trip to Southeast Asia.
(See Action 1)
The Director asked Warner to be careful to communicate his
whereabouts to the O-DCI during the course of the day.
Horton reported that
will be back in the office tomorrow.
The Director complimented Houston on his statement to the press
concerning the possible prosecution of NSA officials.
