The Director asked that this project be cost accounted including any necessary building changes. DD/I said that the two studies requested by Secretary McNamara are in train and should be finished late today. DD/I said that a re-examination of the comparative military capabilities of the Israelis and the Arabs will be completed in draft form in the course of the day. Godfrey discussed the Near East situation. DDCI discussed intelligence reports on UAR intentions in the Tiran Strait. Godfrey said he will check. Kent discussed General Johnson's remarks at USIB on the internal political situation in China. DDCI said to let him know if the USIB minutes on this subject should be changed. The Director agreed withiIthat a Watch Committee meet- 25X1 ing should be held this morning. Houston discussed the latest developments in the Garrison case. (See Action 1) Parrott for Bross suggested dissemination to the USIB principals of the Director's correspondence on the "twenty questions. " DDCI suggested that Parrott check the minutes of last week's USIB meeting in order to avoid duplication.
