Morning Meeting of 26 May 1967
The Director of Security gave a briefing on the possible use of
automatic machines for checking and verifying Agency badges at
entrances and exits. The Director asked that this project be cost
accounted including any necessary building changes.
DD/I said that the two studies requested by Secretary McNamara
are in train and should be finished late today.
DD/I said that a re-examination of the comparative military
capabilities of the Israelis and the Arabs will be completed in draft
form in the course of the day.
Godfrey discussed the Near East situation.
DDCI discussed intelligence reports on UAR intentions in the
Tiran Strait. Godfrey said he will check.
Kent discussed General Johnson's remarks at USIB on the internal
political situation in China. DDCI said to let him know if the USIB
minutes on this subject should be changed.
The Director agreed withiIthat a Watch Committee meet- 25X1
ing should be held this morning.
Houston discussed the latest developments in the Garrison case.

Parrott for Bross suggested dissemination to the USIB principals
of the Director's correspondence on the "twenty questions. " DDCI
suggested that Parrott check the minutes of last week's USIB meeting
in order to avoid duplication.

President yesterday.
DD/P called the Director's attention to a report on Cuban
plans with Soviet support to foment trouble in Haiti.
Executive Director briefed the Director on a report by

The Director gave the DD/I instructions on the handling of telephone
traffic to the Director.
1. The Director asked Houston and Goodwin to prepare a state-
ment for his approval denying past association with the Agency.
2. The Director asked the DD/I to communicate to Saigon our
analysis of the intelligence available on the situation in South Vietnam
