Morning Meeting of 4 May 1967
DDCI was in the chair. The Director was on the Hill.
DD/I passed around a snapshot of a model constructed by NPIC
of a large pad at F777 I
DD/I noted that the weekly I report thoroughly examined 25X1
information on the introduction of SSM's into North Vietnam and is still
generally negative in conclusion. There was a general discussion of
the pros and cons of the USSR's giving Hanoi the SS-3 missile and of the
various possible methods of shipment.
Lehman for Godfrey noted developments in the Khe Son area. (See
Action 1)
Kent noted that an interdepartmental OB meeting will be starting
in Saigon on Monday.
DD/I called attention to the coverage in the Vietnam Sitrep of the
air battle near the Chinese border. (See Action 2)
Kent alerted the DDCI to the possibility that the Navy representa-
tive of USIB might offer modifications to the Estimate on South Africa.
DD/S called attention to an item in this morning's Washington
Post concerning relations between the Agency and the Woodrow Wilson
School of International Affairs at Princeton University. It was decided
that Kent will telephone Dr. Strayer to ascertain the facts. Kent also
suggested that the matter might be further considered when the ONE
consultants convene at Princeton next week.
Carver briefed the DDCI on a meeting at the Treasury Department
yesterday. He said that the Director has been informed.

DD/S&T said it looks like the SS-6 booster will be displayed at
the air show in Paris.
1. DDCI asked Lehman to give him a map of the Khe Son area
showing the disposition of forces. (In the course of the day)
2. DDCI asked the DD/I to check with NMCC on indications of
whether U. S. aircraft might have jetisoned ordnance in the Chinese
border area and subsequently to ask to call our coverage
to the attention of Secretaries McNamara and Vance.
