DD/I noted a request from Ambassador Johnson in Tokyo for an
appraisal of ChiCom claims to have downed U. S. aircraft over China.
DD/I referred State to the Pentagon on this matter. The Director
agreed.

duction of SSM's into North Vietnam,

Kent said that work by the reps on the Estimate initiated by Bill
has been completed and that he will call Ambassador Harriman
Kent said that General Carroll has requested an Estimate for
early July on world reactions to certain U. S. courses of action in
Vietnam. The Director agreed to the preparation of the Estimate.

security components of the North Atlantic Council Secretariat and the

DDCI called attention to a State Department message from Hong
Kong evaluating the effects of the bombing of North Vietnam on internal
