Morning Meeting of 1 May 1967
DD/I informed the Director of arrangements made in the State
Department on Sunday concerning U. S. personnel in the Yemen.
Godfrey briefed on the latest developments in the Yemen. The
Director noted the importance of diesel fuel oil stocks in both Sana
and Taiz to the maintenance of communications.
Godfrey noted two cables from Ambassador Goldberg concerning
the possible introduction of SSM's into North Vietnam. The Director
felt that we should be careful not to gull ourselves on possible Soviet
actions and said that he would rather be overboard on what they might
do.
Carver called attention to exaggerated press coverage of action
in the I Corps area.
Carver noted that General Loan will be in town this week. The
Director asked the DD/P to check this.
Warner said that the House Banking and Currency Committee is
interested in the possibility of our testifying in executive session on the
ma ion beyond the I Ireport.

Chamberlain called attention to an Agency report on Indian
atomic weapons developments. DDCI said he had asked ADD/P to
concert with ONE and DD/S&T for a follow-up comment from Head-
quarters on this report.
The Director gave the DD/P Secretary Katzenbach's itinerary
for a three-week trip to Africa starting 10 May. (See Action 1)
The Director reported on the 303 Meeting last Friday.
ACTION:
1. The Director asked the DD/P to involve himself personally in
the appropriate briefings on Africa for Secretary Katzenbach.
