Approved Fo0lease 2 X' i9 i > 001800020065-5 27 April 1967 Morning Meeting of 27 April 1967 DD/I briefed the Director on the support being provided to Alain Enthoven at his request for an examination of the Soviet program on satellite communications systems. Bross noted that this is an integral part of the "twenty questions" exercise with DOD and asked for close coordination in our dealings with Enthoven's office. DD/I reported that photography 25X1 on the introduction of 37 mm. AAA into South Vietnam was negative. However, the road network into the A Shau Valley had been improved, and we will continue to watch the area closely. Lehman for Godfrey reported that the situation in Taiz is quiet and that the memorandum which the Director requested o I I will be ready tomorrow morning. DD/S reported favorable feedback from the Agency's last JCS/DIA orientation program. Carver called attention to military developments in the I Corps The Director said he recognizes that congressional breakfasts are time-consuming but that he feels they are well worthwhile, and he thanked those attending for their articulate representation. Warner added that he has concrete evidence as to the value of these breakfasts. The Director discussed with the DDCI the handling of a briefing requested by Congressman Evans which involves COMINT matters. DDCI said that General Carroll will handle this personally. He sent a copy to Admiral Rickover, and the Admiral was particularly pleased. The Director felt that the proposal for new contracting procedures is a good one. In reply to a question DD/P said that the material on matters related to the Rusk panel requested by the Director in anticipation of possible appearances before Congressional subcommittees is in prepara- tion.
