p P, 'T "all"M Am,~ Approved For lease 206 11 /2 : CIA- OM 1 2WO1 27 September 1967 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD Morning Meeting of 27 September 1967 DD/I briefed the Director on the preliminary assessment of the first bucket of KH-4 Mission No. 1101 which involved a new camera, the KH-4-D. DD/S&T added that he expects the second bucket to pro- duce better quality photography. Godfrey noted that Enugu is being shelled by federal artillery. Godfrey plans to see Arthur Hartman, Executive Secretary of the Senior Interdepartmental Group, to discuss the possibility of im- proving our intelligence publication produced in support of the SIG. Kent said that he is now ready to discuss NIE 14-3 with the Director at his convenience. Kent discussed Thursday's USIB agenda, and it was agreed that the DDCI will hold a pre-USIB meeting at 1500 today. Carver noted that, as a result of discussions with White House staff and others involved in population control statistics on South Vietnam, there is agreement to re-evaluate the methodology for reports in the future. He will be meeting with Enthoven Thursday morning to start afresh Warner announced that Congressman Hardy has requested that the Director meet with his special subcommittee at 0900 on 9 October. The Director agreed. Warner said that Senator Symington will return tomorrow and hopes to see the Director on 2 October. Bross reported that Walt Rostow sent the PFIAB directive on information handling to the Secretaries of State and Defense without comment. Solis Horwitz has the action in OSD. DD/P reported on the status of the responses to the requests from the PFIAB staff noted in yesterday's minutes for briefings and memoranda. Executive Director noted the extremely favorable reaction to the Director's address at the National War College yesterday. The Director told the DD/I that General Goodpaster is interested in obtaining the assignment of a CIA instructor to the National War College for two years beginning either this December or next fall. In reply to a question the DDCI briefed the Director on the progress of the Eaton Panel. Bross added that Ambassador Merchant had expressed enthusiasm concerning his membership on the Panel.
