Approved For ,ease 20051r,~8(( 4 01800040060-8 1 2 April 1968 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD Morning Meeting of 2 April 1968 25 DD/I advised that the request by a representative of the Princeton Whig Cleo Society for the Agency to host a group of Princeton students can be taken at face value and that arrangements will be undertaken to receive the students. 25 Godfrey suggested that there might be another round of violence today involving students in Brazil. Godfrey advised that toward the end of this week OCI will produce an analytical piece on foreign reactions to the President's speech. Carver reported that Under Secretary Katzenbach and Deputy Secretary Nitze discussed yesterday the possibility of establishing a special watch committee composed of CIA, DIA, and INR to monitor Hanoi's reactions to the President's peace initiatives. The Director indicated that he will telephone Deputy Secretary Nitze to advise him that a special watch committee is unnecessary in view of CIA's existing monitoring capability. 25 X1 DD/P called attention to recurring indications that the East Germans plan to publish a "Who's Who in CIA, " which allegedly will consist of some names of intelligence officers overseas. (See Action 1) The Director advised that he will contact Ambassador Bohlen today to arrange a meeting 11 1 The Director informed the DD/I that he found OER's paper on the Stockholm agreements most helpful. The Director asked the DD/P to ensure that field reports on reactions to the President's peace initiatives are severely limited in internal Agency distribution. DD/P advised that he will do so and noted that a Clandestine Services study is currently under way with the objec- tive of drastically curtailing internal dissemination of cables from the field. ACTION: 1. The Director asked Bross to meet with Ambassador Parsons to outline for the Ambassador various problems posed by the Step 4 Task Force's desire to review overseas intelligence activities.
