D/ONE advised that he has Deputy Secretary Nitze's request for
a SNIE F_ I The Director suggested to D/ONE
that his draft response to Deputy Secretary Nitze's request include a
desire to eliminate or move back the 30 October deadline for the Esti-
mate in order to permit the maximum amount of time for collecting
relevant intelligence
Director asked the DD/P to ensure that or another senior 25X1
The Director advised that William Bundy has reconvened the Laos
working group and noted rising concern about the situation in Laos. The
official participates in the working group. D/ONE noted the existence
of an ONE staff paper on the political situation and Communist policies
in Laos, which he will review in terms of making it available to the
working group. The Director asked that Carver explore whether
SAVA's informal weekly report on the Laos military situation can be
polished up for wider, more formal distribution.
