MORNING MEETING ACTION ITEM
DDCI questioned whether our awards ceremonies do not lose a
good deal of their effect by virtue of the fact that disparate awards are
handed out before conglomerate audiences, thereby mitigating the pos-
sibility of publicly commenting in a meaningful way on various awards,
particularly those arising from a sensitive operation. DD/S agreed to
look into the matter.

An arrangement will
be worked out whereby awards ceremonies will be matched to the nature of
the award, permitting the DDCI to speak freely on the action which prompted
the granting of an award. In some cases the timing will require a single
recipient at a ceremony. We will have to see by experience whether this
becomes a burden upon the DDCI.
