The Central Intelligence Agency is currently conducting a
Midcareer Executive Development Course as part Of a basic
program for the formal training of those officers who have been
selected from the middle echelon groups 1GS-1S's end 14'4 as
the most likely candidates for senior executive joba in the Agency.
We would like very much to have this group receive the benefit
of a presentation from you on the current responsibilities of the
U.S. Information Agency in implementing foreign policy. Would
it be possible for you to be with us on Wednesday, 14 October
from 2:00 until about 4:00 p.m, at the Brookings Institution.
We consider this course to be one of the most important
developments in our training program. It is a six-week course,
the first two weeks of which are devoted to Agency affairs, the
second two weeks to a presentation at the Brookings Institution
on problems relating to the U.S. Government, and the final two
weeks to a discussion of current world problems.
We feel that a thorough understanding of 'USIA is essential
for this group of future executives and hope very much that you
will be able to undertake this task. I can assure you that we
would be most appreciative of your efforts.
