1. .Pit Senator Stennis' request, I had lunch with him today in
the Senate Dining Room and briefed him on a number of matters
:substantially in accordance with the briefing I gave to Senator
5altonatall, with the exception that Senator Keatiri 's 's eech did not
'come iip .nor did the matter of the Our 'con-
wersation centered almost entirely on the Soviet buildup in Cuba and
I brought him up to -date in 'spe'cific detail as I did with Senator
Saltbnstall. The rest of the conversation was almost 'entirely con-
jectural as to where we might go from here and the relationship
between Cuba and our'poasible'actiona there with other parts of the
world such.aa Berlin. There was nothing either startling 'or new in
my briefing or ixi Senator Stennis' concern that has not already been
,discussed at great length on fhe_floor and in the public press.
