the need of your Committee and its staff for intelligence contributions
to U. S. policyxnaking in connection with your study of U. S. - Vietnam

On the basis. of these discussions, it appears that your require-
and ments for intelligence can be refined to a series of a
questions regarding intelligence assessments of parts ar s t~aatiasslin
Indochina at given points in time. The Agency would review these ueaticae,s
with your staff in order to respond where appropriate on the basis of
intelligence estimates made during the periods in question.
In view of the progress already made in the discussions between
our staffs, I am hopeful that further meetings of this nature will produce
a mutually satisfactory solution. I will be happy, however, to discuss
the matter with you personally at any time if you wish.
