reactionary lira into the regular programming of the Voice of Vietnam. Today

The fact that the THTEU clique are a bunch of thieves is nothing new, ids as
commonly )mown as the fact that dogs eat excrement. But today's feature about

their stealing is not the same old story of skumnin, off war material and rice
rations in order to by diamonds, a practice at which THIEU and his lackeys are

This theft involves the stealing of something, spiritual, something cultural.
What are they doing, you ask? They are stealing songs. Not US, West German,
Korean or Thai songs, but the songs of Socialist North Vietnam--the songs of
a regime which the THIEU clique regards as its sworn enemy. In the past !&O
')INH DIEM had stolen the song "Appeal to Youth" by LUU HUU PHUUC (now Minister
of Information in the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the hepublic of
South Vietnam) and made it the national anthem of SVN-a fact that created a
popular furor. And now that traitor N3UYEN VAN'-'THIFU has updated and escalated
this kind of theft. Prison Warden THIEU let his Saigon-based megaphone spout
recordings of Northern songs with altered words, parodies in tune with the
enemy line. And they pour out these parodies over that Saigon-based radio.
They steal songs from other people, while openly confessing themselves to be
shameless thieves without the least compunction whatsoever.
To give you a concrete example-everybody knows the song "Ready! Open Fire!"
by TO HAI. In the North, this song appeared 'in the very first days of our
ti
fight against the US bandits' air war of destruction, and has been heard fre-
quently over the Voice of Vietnam radio. But out of the blue, not long ago
folks were surprised to hear a Saigon-based megaphone broadcast a song with
that same title, by that very same composer, but with completely counterfeit
words. To help you listeners hear the difference, here is the real "Ready!
Open Fire!" by TO HAI as recorded by the Voice of Vietnam symphony orchestra and
chorus:
