REMARKS:
One of our Vietnamese Communist adversaries'
more irritating attributes (which, professionally,
it is hard not to admire, however grudgingly) is
their ability to field the fast hop of a news
break - - picking it up, twisting it and relaying
it promptly for propaganda/psywar advantage.
The attached is a case in point, It comes .close
to home, but I thought you would want to see it.
The Gommunists have taken the leaked stories of
your impending departure, blended in some of the
stiletto-work published speculation on the reasons
therefor, and served the brew right back to their
target audiences as "proof" of their cause's
invincibility. Those who leaked anci!^r printed
the original story about you and/or the follow-up
"speculation" would, of course, be shocked and
outraged at any suggestion that their actions
might have given aid and comfort to this republic';
enemies.
