SUBJECT: Letter about Mr. Dulles from Senator Strom Thurmond
These are suggestions for possible answers to Senator
Thurmond's letter:
,Thank you for your kind letter concerning Secretary Dulles
and your suggestions about the Taylor Clinic. I have discussed
these with some of the physicians attending Mr. Dulles and, to
the best of my knowledge, the Taylor Clinic has been associated
withi I learned from these physicians that
in connection with similar clinics in the State of Pennsylvania,
has been denied the use of the mails by the Post Office Depart-
ment and the Department of Justice because of claims that could
not be substantiated. While I, just as you, am convinced of the
sincerity and integrity of your friends who have testified to
these medications, nevertheless I find myself in agreement with
Mr. Dulles' physicians that it might be unwise to consider such
unorthodox and controversial therapies.

I am enclosing a letter I have received from a very prominent
banker in South Carolina which concerns his and another
gentleman's personal experience in being cured of cancer.
I know both of these gentlemen very well, and they are men of
high character and integrity. I know that Mr. Anderson, the
writer of the letter, is sincerely interested in helping
Secretary Dulles find some way to be cured of cancer.
I have tried to get some information on the particular
clinic Mr. Anderson mentions, and I am informed that it is
probably not recognized or approved of by the Public Health
Service. I call this letter to your attention, however,
because of Mr. Anderson's deep concern over Secretary Dulles'
illness and his hope--along with the hope of millions of people
all over the world--that the Secretary will soon recover.
