Professor Henry L. Roberts, director of Columbia's
Russian Institute, has passed on to me your generous offer
of 21 February to designate an officer of the Agency to
speak to the Russian Institute Student Group at its annual
banquet. As president of the Student Group, I should be
very pleased to accept your offer.
Naturally we were disappointed that you could not
speak to us yourself, although we well understood the reasons
for your refusal. We would be delighted, however, to have
Mr. Robert Amory, Jr. appear in your place. If he is avail-
able, I would write him a separate letter.
The banquet will be on the evening of Saturday, 9
May, here at Columbia, if that is convenient for Mr. Amory.
