September 17, 1959
I owe you an apology for not having answered
sooner your very kind and courteous letter of August
19, concerning the Dulles Memorial Meeting of Tuesday,
the 9th of this month.
We all regretted that you and Mrs. John Foster
Dulles could not attend the meeting, but we were most
fortunate in having Ambassador MacArthur II with us
to represent graciously and eloquently the family and
relatives of the late Secretary of State. Success of
that meeting was to me a gratifying proof of how your
"illustrious brother's memories libe in the hearts of
a grateful people.
