but was off on a trip to Buffalo to address the Bar Association on

the material with Kirkpatrick. I hope I will have a chance to see
you the next time you are in Washington.

I was sorry not to see you when I was in Washington
yesterday. I did, however, talk with Mr. Kirkpatrick at
some length. I told him that while I couldn't possibly
write an article to meet a deadline of May 15, I would
try to write one to meet an August 1 deadline.
I have in mind writing on "The Role of Intelligence
in Forming National Security Policy."
I add my prayers to yours that Foster's unhappy
condition be mitigated as soon as possible.
