Approved For Release 2009/01/14 :CIA-RDP80R01731 8000400680007-1 25X1 June 12, 1958 You mentioned that perhaps when I was next in Washington, we might get together again for a longer session. I expect to be in Washington on Thur nd through the evening of Friday, June 27, business but especially to see you. I can a in Was ington again, on my way to or from New York, on the 24th of July or Saturday, July 26 if these dates are more convenient for you.. These are certainly interesting and stimulating days, and my impression from way out here and from what informa- tion reaches me is that the administration is moving with increasing confidence and precision and, as always, in a cool and reflective fashion. I hope this impression is taking hold in the country for, of course, a great deal is at stake as far as public attitudes are concerned and not least in this part of the country. We are delighted that the President persuaded John McCone to join the front ranks of his administration. I have gotten to know him very well indeed. In fact, we are very good friends, and there are few people in the country whom I respect as highly for administrative skill and a reflective approach to the great problems of state. He and Rosemary have just finished anew house, and I know, and I am sure the President does, what a great sacrifice it means to them to uproot themselves from the home and environment they love to enter the lists in Washington. His judgment in any matter I have ever consulted with him upon, including political affairs where I have been involved in the dis- cussions, is beyond compare. I merely add this paragraph PERSONAL Dear Allen: It was good of you to see me in your busy day when I was last in Washington, and, as always, I came away refreshed and reassured. Your brother, of course, knows him very well for, according to my infor- mation, he and Wriston tried to persuade John at one stage to come aboard in the State Department. With all the best, Sincerely, Mr. Allen Dulles Central Intelligence Agency 2430 E., N.W. Washington , D . C . Approved For Release 2009/01/14 :CIA-RDP80R01731 8000400680007-1
