MEMORANDUM FOR s Deputy Director (Intelligence)
SUBJJET s General Reinhard Gehlen's Letter Con-
taining His Views on the World Situation.
1. On 10 August 1953 a letter from General Gehlen
to the Director forwarding his views on the world situation
was sent to your office. (DD/P 5058) General Gehlen him-
self prepared this study and it is felt that he attached a
good deal of importance to his effort.
2. It would be to the definite advantage of the
Agency in its dealings with General Gehlen if an answer
recognizing his efforts could be delivered to him in the
near future. A personal letter over the signature of the
Director containing an appreciative evaluation of the study
would, no doubt, be more than welcome.
