entirely up to date. Cinerama has been a huge success not only in
Damascus. but also in Bangkok. It is a potent instrument in the
battle for men's minds and, I know that Ted Streibert at USIA fully
shares this view. There are ac ee problems due to the difficulty
of finding adequate theaters in many countries abroad and the very
heavy expenses but I can assure you that people here in Washington

Dear Allen,
I think you had better put me on your espionage
team. At a luncheon for Chancellor Raab, where I
happened to be making a few remarks the other day,
there was a lovely young woman sitting directly below
me. I'm afraid I stared at her. At any rate, half way
through the Chencellor's speech, in German, I made a
bet with myself. Although I had never seen her, or
even a photograph, I said "I'll wager that's the daughter
of Clover and Allen Dulles.
May I congratulate you both. I thought she was
beautiful and charming.
When are you and your brother going to take your
families to see Cinerama? This new medium could be used
in an extraordinary way to the advantage of Uncle Sam.
But, so far, despite the exciting news from Damascus,
it has not been used properly for the good of the
cause, and so on.
