The desire was plainly indicated to have such report as brief as possible. Nat-ion a t a et s The embers agreed that Thursday, November 27,. being Thanks- giving Day, the Midday Meeting will be held on Wednesday, the 26th. Insofar as Christmas and New Year's days are concerned, decision as to substitute days was deferred. Admiral Kirk indicated that on the evening of Thursday, Decem- ber 4, he was corrmitted to make a speech before the English-Speaking Union in New York City. The Members present felt that his absence on that date would be acceptable to them. American Bible Soci v The American Bible Society's suggestion regarding the "generous gestures to be announced by the President-elect of offering Bibles in the Russian language to the Russian people was not favorably looked upon by the Board. In this Connection, Mr. Bruce gave Admiral Kirk the Department of State's written concurrence with the Director of CIA's memorandum of 31 October 1952. The Members were informed that th- Dpertment of Defense had signified its concurrence therein.
