to connection with my luncheon meeting at the White house
with Messrs. Anderson. Cutler, and lackicn regarding East-West
trade and related matters, there was a desire expressed for some
intelligence from us on the following subjects:
1. Whether or t there were real food short-
and possibly famine conditions in any parts of the
satellite countries.
2. A ilable statistics of the exports between the
met and the satellites in consumer goods and commodities,
particularly in commodities in which the people of the
satellites are themselves Interested.
3. What were the serious shortages in the various
satellite countries in commodities and consumer goods.
